Terry Mebane
INVESTMENT ADVISOR REPRESENTATIVE
Wish I could tell you I wanted to be an advisor since HS. Instead, I will say I’m glad I chose this path 28 years ago.
In 1992 I became the on-site advisor to the Mother Frances Hospital plan. I worked hard daily to help all the employees understand and use the plan they had. I built trust and gained a lot of wisdom on financial planning in those years. Later I moved to my own financial practice and have had the same office for 20 years. I have represented some great companies like Prudential, Lincoln, and now Voya Financial Advisors (formerly a registered broker/dealer under ING).
Personally, I’ve been married for almost 20 years to Laura F. Skelton Mebane.
She brought her 2 boys, Hunter & Austin to the marriage and I brought Colton & Connor. Together we have floated the Comal River and snowboarded Colorado’s best mountains. Our boys were and still are very much the center point of our lives.
In fact, Laura and I went to 77 straight high school football games due to our 4 boys’ athletic talent. Now they are grown and I officiate Texas High School football on Friday nights.
We have 2 grandkids, so we have been given 2 new nicknames – Lolly and Pops. 😎
I love working with my clients and helping them with accumulating money for their retirement years and protecting those assets with various life insurance strategies. I work with small business plans like 401Ks and SEPs.
I also work with K-12 & higher education like the local colleges and Universities regarding their 403bs, 457, and ORP plans.
Trust & knowledge (know-how) are what I get. I’m a consumer, too, so I don’t sell people, I educate them. Then hope they ask me to help them make it happen.
Everyone needs a coach. I coached my kids for years and I’m passionate and eager to teach others. I was a part of the National Championship team at Austin College back in 1981, so I understand the grind of getting things done. Financial planning is a process and involves many moving parts like a football team. Winning is never easy, but the journey makes it all worthwhile.
I was born in Tyler some 50-plus years ago and currently live in South Smith County in Bullard, Tx. When football season isn’t in full swing, I play a little Golf and travel with my wife, Laura, and any of our friends and family who want to come along.
Life is Good, I’m blessed. 🙏
